"In Loving Memory of Gustavo
José Inciarte Perich"

With deep regret we must inform you of the
passing away of
Mr. GUSTAVO JOSÉ INCIARTE PERICH
Gustavo was the first foreign Director of the GAS PROCESSORS ASSOCIATION (GPA),
and the founder of the first foreign International Chapter of the GPA, known as
ASOCIACION VENEZOLANA DE PROCESADORES DE GAS (AVPG), GPA´S Venezuelan Chapter.
Gustavo, was the first "native" to become Chief Petroleum Engineer for any of
SHELL´s Group of Companies Worldwide, and after many years of a very successful
career in the oil and gas industry was named President of Venezuela´s Technology
Research and Development Center (INTEVEP)
Throughout his career, he received uncountable awards and recognitions. He was also
elected and served as President of The Society of Petroleum Engineers(SPE) in
1998, being the first Latin American elected for that position. He ended his 41
year career in the oil industry as a member of PDVSA´s Board, which was, at the
time, one of top 5 largest oil companies in the world.
Since 2003 he was a Visiting Research Scholar at the University of Oklahoma, in
the Sarkeys Energy Center, and worked mainly with the Energy Institute of the
Americas. He loved his Alma Mater Oklahoma University, and was very passionate
about sports, specially "His" Oklahoma Sooners.
His efforts and achievements motivated that the AVPG, in 1993, named its most
prestigious award for individuals that clearly excel in supporting the
Venezuelan Gas Industry with his name: "The Gustavo Inciarte Award".
Gustavo Inciarte will be missed, and his achievements not forgotten.
Sebastiano Rizzo, Nicolas Bracho, Nancy América Pérez
